;The bars
Callahan's is a series by Spider Robinson that started with a very peculiar bar off Route 25A in Suffolk County, Long Island. The overarching philosophy is that pain shared is divided and joy shared is multiplied. The patrons of Callahan's are encouraged to listen to the problems with others (but no snoopy questions) So they merrily sat around, drinking, making puns, singing, telling stories, and happily sharing the joy and pain of friends and strangers alike.

Then the alien cyborg arrived. Then a time traveler, a telekinetic, a pair of telepathic brothers (who helped the gang get telepathic), another time traveler, a 300-year-old woman, the alien who posed as Hitler, the woman whose husband possessed fivesight, a talking dog, another time traveler (this one was a salesman), the guy from the mirror universe, an ethical vampire, and the alien cyborg's Master. Then the patrons all got telepathic again and place got nuked.

A few years later Mary's Place opens up to continue the sharing and puns and on their first night a pookah/Fir Darrig lands (literally!) there. Close behind is a cluricane, the guy who brought AIDS to the human race, a whole parade of musicans, an Artificial Intelligence born of the Internet, a millionaire determined to literally burn through his money, a man who feels no pain, Nikola Tesla, another alien cyborg (prompting the gang to get telepathic again to save the planet, and resulting in a little girl born with vast intelligence and knowledge granted by the Internet herself.), and two very unpleasant (and ugly!) people (allegedly) who cause the place to get shut down.

Another few years later Nikola Tesla shows up to recruit the gang to save the universe. The whole thing. This prompts the patrons to head south to Key West and set up The Place where they are joined by Pixel (Robert Heinlein's cat who walks through walls), an obscene parrot, a talking Key deer, a merman, and succeed in saving the universe, outwitting the Department of Defense, and leading a mobster-wannabe named Little Nuts around by the....nuts.

What's new on Callahan's Wiki

29 March 2009 - Creation
The Callahan's Wiki is created! I'm working on starting as many articles as possible, most are just barebones at the moment awaiting future editing by you! Also, we need a logo, so anybody who has ideas for one drop me an e-mail or leave me a note on my talk page. --GaidinBDJ 23:03, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
1 April 2009 - Logos and more articles
Ok, we've got some more stuff added. I threw up a logo for the wiki as well as a "banner" for the main page. I've got pages created for most of the characters. Most are still pretty skimpy, but it's coming along. --GaidinBDJ 05:15, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

Article Creation Guidelines
 1. Make sure the article doesn't already exist (The best way is to check the appropriate Category)
 2. Create a Wikia account for the best results please. Feel free to share your personal puns, riddles, songs, and tall tales on your user page NOT in an article.
 3. Create the article with the character's full ("straight") name. If they're addressed differently create a redirect to the full name page
 4. Make sure you add the appropriate category to the bottom of the article
 5. When writing articles link to Wikipedia for non-Callahan's type stuff that need more explanation.

 • Redirects - Redirects to other pages

Note: In an attempt to head-off any angry e-mails let me clarify one thing: I have nothing personally against online communities or fan fiction. It's just not what this wiki is about. There are wikis out there coving fan collectives.
